about

"Re-Emergents" is a collection of ambient guitar meditations that coalesced from a series of recordings begun in late 2017. After a fairly long hiatus from releases, I challenged myself to complete an album-length work that was multipart and sonically cohesive.

I also started playing more guitar as a foundational sound source around that time (it was my first love and first instrument). And soon after, I quickly and delightedly fell down the rabbit hole of collecting outboard effects pedals again to be used in conjunction with digital production.

And, as it turns out, guitar came to be the only instrument source for this album. I had the intention early on of adding software synths as well, but after I finished processing the guitar parts, I suddenly realized each piece already had the essential layers and textures I was seeking. So . . . no synthesizers or sample libraries were harmed in the making of this album.

The title reflects the journey of the last several years of challenging myself to be a better producer, engineer, and artist; to listen more deeply to the musical voice that wants to emerge. And continue - always - to emerge.

about

Noctilusense Seattle, Washington

Frequently liminal and melancholic. Occasionally romantic but never sentimental. ... more
